BARTOW COUNTY, GA — The body of a man who disappeared on Lake Allatoona on Sunday afternoon has been recovered, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Authorities identified the victim as 28-year-old Fidel Ojwang of Lilburn.

Game wardens and Bartow County Fire Rescue responded to a cove near Glade Marina just before 1 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a possible drowning.

Investigators said Ojwang fell off the back of a ski boat, went underwater and did not resurface.

An hours-long, multi-agency search followed, with officials using boat-mounted sonar to locate Ojwang’s body early Monday morning.

The Bartow County Coroner will perform an autopsy.
